This is my current favorite sunscreen: Hada Labo’s Gokujyun Perfect UV Gel. It’s SPF 50+ PA++++, plenty of sun protection!
The tube itself doesn’t have much printed on it, but it comes in a little zip bag with plenty of printing all over it! It advertises itself as “1 product, 5 uses”:
The bag easily zips open, and you take out the sunscreen. On my way back from Japan, I filled the little bag with my new eyeliners and concealers, but there’s really no other use for the bag. Throw it away.
The tube is made out of soft, pliable plastic. I should be able to press down and squeeze out most of it. Of course, I’ll still need to cut it open, to get at the last of it.
This Perfect UV gel packaging says it has no fragrances, colorings, or mineral oil, and is suitable for sensitive skin. Perfect UV gel comes in two versions: the colorless white version (blue tube), and a tinted version (pink tube) – obviously, the tinted product in the pink tube does have added colorings. Both are “1 product, 5 functions”: lotion, milky lotion, essence, base, and sunscreen.
Considering that the Perfect UV gel has all these various functions, I guess the pink Perfect UV is something like a BB cream. I don’t know if it can be used as a BB cream because I haven’t actually tried the pink Perfect UV.
The product isn’t really a gel – it’s a thick white lotion that holds its shape, and is the color and consistency of non-liquidy sunscreen. It has a much lighter feel than sunscreen, though. I can’t even feel the Perfect UV gel.
Only partially spread out. It’s not watery, it’s kind of thick.
And here, fully spread out. It has a slight shine, but that doesn’t matter to me because I wear makeup over it. If you don’t wear anything over it, you’ll look slightly dewy or slightly greasy.
The product is marketed as fragrance-free, but personally, I think a better description is “no added fragrances”. I do smell something. It’s such a pleasant smell, though! It smells like almond extract, and I love it so much. The smell goes away after the sunscreen dries and sets.
