What a crazy month! I was super busy at work and didn’t have much “me” time. I’d get home from work, (attempt to) cuddle with my cat, fall asleep for an hour or so, wake up to take a proper shower, and go to bed. I’d take a walk around the neighborhood just to get around, and, uh, kind of strayed into the beauty roadshops. Here’s some of the free samples I received this month.
The Saem: tiny, tiny bottles of their Harakeke line. I haven’t tried these yet. I’ll have to bring out my beauty spatula to get the product out of these little bottles.
Short answer: No, you can’t interchange the cushions. Now, on to the long answer and photo proof.
I love the soft, buttery formula of Majolica Majorca’s eyeshadows. I also love a bright splash of color on my otherwise sensible work makeup. So when I had the chance, I snapped up the pastel green Blue Vacation, and hot-pink pastel Lady.
Celebrity makeup artist Pony has announced an upcoming beauty line, called Pony Effect. It appears to be in collaboration with Memebox, so… business as usual, but with “Pony Effect” printed on the cases, instead of “Pony X Memebox”?
Missha has released their new Virgin Coconut skincare line. The prices are ridiculously low, and it looks like these are regular, non-promotional prices.
- Body oil, 110 ml: 5,000 won
- Body cream, 230 ml: 5,000 won
- Hand cream, 60 ml: 2,000 won
- Sheet masks, 5-pack: 2,000 won
Etude House‘s In The Cafe 10-color eyeshadow palette – an online exclusive – is sold out. Their website will restock 2000 units on Thursday October 29, at 9 am KST. Etude House’s Gmarket storefront briefly had a sale and coupon for 13,000 won palettes, down from its retail price of 22,000 won.
Special editions everywhere! Autumn in Korea is especially exciting, because of all the new releases for the “autumn lady” look, and also just because new season = new products.
- 2nd batch of Doraemon editions released this week: perfume mists, foundations, brow kits, and shading (contouring) kits. The All in One Perfume Mists and Air Fit Foundation are available in regular, non-Doraemon packaging, for the same price. The brow kits and shading kits appear to be new products.
Here’s Mentholatum’s Melano CC’s whitening lotion! The full name is quite a mouthful: “Melano CC Medicated Blemish Treatment Whitening Lotion. It’s a “lotion”, in the sense that it’s a skin treatment. It isn’t the typical creamy white lotion; it’s a colorless, thin liquid. It’s not sticky, it smells nice, and I’m convinced that it works.
One of the things I really like about Korea is the 빨리빨리 (ppalli ppalli: “hurry hurry” or “faster!”) culture. It has its pros and cons. Buildings get built with suspicious speed, an old shop shuts down and a new one replaces it and is fully functional within 48 hours, food gets delivered to your doorstep within the hour, any hour, even the line to the ladies’ bathroom moves quickly. Anyway. Combine 빨리빨리 and online shopping, and you get something that’s fast.
I recently discovered that I needed A’Pieu’s special edition Doraemon cushion case in my life. At 9,800 won for the case+BB cream, an extra applicator puff, and a refill, what’s not to like? I dreamed about it all day at work. When I got home, I caved and found myself on A’Pieu’s website (apieu.beautynet.co.kr).
I recently went to Kyoto, and unfortunately I didn’t get to stop by Yojiya’s full store in Gion. I did stop by one of their kiosks (there’s two!) at Kyoto Station. The Kyoto Station kiosks have a very limited amount of products – I only clearly remember seeing the Mayugomori hand creams and aburatorigami (facial blotting papers). I bought one booklet of 20 sheets for 330 yen.
