Canmake’s Cover & Stretch UV concealer, to hide the imperfections!

Being the cheapskate that I am, I first went to Watson’s to test it out. No, I’m not paying 17,000 won at Watson’s, when the same product is available for less on Gmarket. Watson’s doesn’t even give out samples!

This is the seller I bought it from, at 13,600 won. It was in a dual pack with MAKE20 CC cream, which I’ll review in a future post.  Shipping was great; it was delivered to me the very next day! You can also browse all of Gmarket’s Canmake listings.

When testing it out Watson’s, I saw that 02 Natural Beige had more of a dark beige tint to it. I decided that the light yellow 01 Light Beige would be better for canceling out my dark undereye circles. I think 02 Natural Beige would be better for covering up acne, but I haven’t tried.

Standard doefoot applicator:

And a Korean label, of course. It doesn’t say much, just repeats the product name, manufacturer/importer information.

Previously, I was using a cake concealer by Missha: The Style Perfect Concealer, in Natural Beige. It was alright, but it would bunch up and crease after a couple of hours. I would check my reflection in the mirror, see bunched-up light yellow cream, and quickly wipe it away. It was embarrassing to have my makeup “reveal” itself.

Canmake’s concealer is everything I ever wanted in a concealer. It doesn’t crease, it matches my skin tone, and it just stays on. I vaguely remember trying MAC concealer, many years ago … the stickiness seems similar, but Canmake’s is not as thick. Which is great, because MAC concealer can be a bit too much.

This concealer dries to the same finish as bb cream. Not a powder finish, and not damp, either. I do add powder on top, to mattify and even things out. It does not cake. At the end of my 8-hour workday, it is still in place and hasn’t smudged, caked, creased, etc etc.

Some swatches to compare it to, using every skin-tinted product I have (not much).

From left to right:
1. Missha M Perfect Cover BB cream in #23 Natural Beige,
2. Missha The Style Perfect Concealer in Natural Beige,
3. Etude House Precious Mineral BB Cream Cotton Fit in W13,
4. Canmake Cover&Stretch Concealer in 01 Light Beige (the product I’m reviewing!)
5. Missha M Magic Cushion in #23

Action Photos

And now, photos of the concealer in action! I first applied my bb cream (Missha M Perfect bb cream in #23) all over, as a base. After that was done, I started taking the before/after pictures. The “before” photos aren’t of my bare skin … I already have bb cream on.

Now, to cover up a pimple. All of the following pictures are just applied with the doefoot applicator, and I used an index finger to pat and spread the concealer.

Wow, that was a lot of pictures. Seriously, everyone, I’m NOT that vain. It’s because… when looking at beauty reviews, I love lots and lots of pictures. Close-ups, comparisons, everything, I want it all.

Please note that the concealer application does look a bit rough in some parts. That disappears with (a) setting/mattifying powder, and (b) better application, lol.

I love this concealer. It’s my new HG. The Korean pricing isn’t cheap (17,000 won retail), and I cry inside while I hand over the money. But I’ll pay anyway! I love it that much.

Or go to Japan and stock up… it’s only 780 yen there! That’s only 7,100 won!!

Ingredients

Here’s my totally not-expert comparison of the ingredients.

The ingredients list from Canmake’s Japanese site and Hwahae differ slightly. Titanium dioxide and talc are among the last ingredients on Canmake.com, but among the first on Hwahae. I am not sure if this reflects the amount used, or not. Ideally, they’re supposed to … but I am unsure if Japan is required to list ingredients according to volume/weight/etc.

Canmake.com also lists only “iron oxide” as a blanket term for the separate red, yellow, and black iron oxides listed on Hwahae.

Also, Canmake.com lists PEG-400, but Hwahae lists PEG-350.   I don’t know anything about this, to be honest.
